OWNERS BIOGRAPHY:
In 1995 the statement was made to me “If you don’t like the way we do things here then do it yourself.” It took me a while for that statement to sink in but in 1998 I finally started my own company so I could “do things myself”. When I went the lawyer to start the paperwork, he asked me what I wanted to name the company. With little forethought I came up with 1st Service Company. I wanted a name that showed what people wanted from a heating & air conditioning company, and that no matter what we provided to the customer it would stem from excellent service. I struggled the first couple years with the business and then by chance I ran into Jim Hinds who had similar ideas and visions to mine. Jim Hinds brought the company to a new level of excellence. Between Jim and me, we have about 50 years of service and installation experience. We were told that business is an open ended journey, and we face that journey everyday. All and all we have our customers which is the heart of our business and is something we cherish. Without them we would be nothing. We also have a small but talented, bright group of employees that help keep our business going day to day. . We have strong ties to our community, and it is very rewarding to be able to give something back. We are looking forward to a long and prosperous future!

OUR MISSION :
Our objective is to provide the highest value and quality in our products and services. To do this we will maintain a team of skilled and motivated people having this common goal. We will have our work be our greatest source of referred customers.

FACTS :
In this business we try to put our service experience to good use when we do new work. We like competition, but would like to be sure that the customer compares the work being proposed is "apples for apples". In most cases it is not so we'd like to list a few of the things we put into our jobs.

Ductwork is sized and installed to provide quiet airflow in all areas. Branch runs have dampers to allow fine-tuning at installation or at a later date. Main trunks can have volume dampers and turning vanes in bends. Supply and return plenums have sound dampening insulation. Ductwork is sealed with mastics to keep air losses at a minimum. We use higher quality supply registers for improved airflow and durability. We route ductwork to keep intrusion into living and attic spaces at a minimum, while supporting ductwork and equipment securely. Branch and flex runs are kept to a minimum. We use 2",R-6 foil backed insulation on ductwork,(most companies use R-4).

We use upgraded Honeywell digital thermostats--not hardware store specials. Thermostat wire is 18 gauge and UV rated wire is used for outdoor equipment, to avoid deterioration.

Condensation drains have traps to correct size and depth, and unions for servicing/cleaning. We use schedule 40 PVC or CPVC pipe. Emergency drains are routed separately and in a way to draw attention to main drain stoppage,(over door/window).

We use 5" media type air cleaners on many jobs for cleaner air and lower, easier maintenance. UV air purifiers, humidifiers, programmable thermostats, remote system monitoring and other options are available.

Outdoor units are set on pre-fabricated bases, leveled, raised on legs, (for drainage, and to prevent dirt, leaf, snow build-up and other problems). Most include gravel and treated wood borders or raised platforms.

We custom bend most refrigerant pipe, for strength, better flow and fewer joints for less contamination. We pressure test with dry nitrogen(150 to 300 psi) and evacuate refrigerant circuits. Refrigerant gas piping is insulated with minimum 1/2", high quality foam.

We use Trane equipment, the most respected name in the industry, known for overall reliability and performance. Residential system equipment warranties start at 1-labor, 5-years for all components and 10-years on many other models. (Carrier charges extra for a 5-year coil warranty on a "coastal unit".) Two year labor warranty on XL equipment.

Our systems include one-year maintenance, 24- hour emergency service, 365 days a year. We are mainly a service company. Our service trucks are fully stocked with materials and tools and our technicians have the expertise to help correct any problems your system might have, whether you bought it from them or us.

We guarantee the performance of the systems we design. We are proud to put our name on every installation, and hope you'll choose us to install your air conditioning for you.

Your contractor should be able to provide a heat load calculation. Old homes as well as new homes need an accurately sized system using ACCA Manual J specifications. Anything less is a guess.
